SunMate Review and Giveaway *closed*

I don't know about you, but these statistics were shocking to me! We know to limit our time in the sun and be sure to always apply sunscreen when we're going to be exposed, but is there anything else we can do to help?YES! The SunMate from Purely Products is the perfect companion to help keep us aware of those harmful rays! The SunMate is great for any family, whether you are swimming, doing yard work, skiing or riding your bike. The SunMate fits in the palm of your hand and is very simple to use. Just a push of the button on top will show you the level of UV light you are being exposed to, warning you when the levels are dangerously high.

I was recently sent a SunMate from Purely Prouducts to review. Living in Arizona we see high temperatures frequently, especially in the summertime. Although it's super hot outside, my kids get stir crazy indoors and need to run off some energy outside. We try to be careful to pile on the sunscreen, especially when it's bright and sunny outdoors, but we do have those occasional days of cloudiness and go without sunscreen. It's so easy to forget that although it is cloudy outside, there are still harmful UV rays that we are being exposed to and we need to protect ourselves!

I first tested the SunMate at about 10am one morning. The kids were wanting to go outside and play with their squirt guns.

The Test:

I tested in the middle of the backyard where the kids were playing so I knew exactly what they were being exposed to.Immediately the lights showed a level of 4 and I heard a loud beep. When levels are high, the SunMate emits a beeping sound to warn you! No way you can miss it!

On the back of the packaging that the SunMate came in is a level indicator showing the risk based upon the level of UV light that was tested. Based on the indicator, you can see that even at 10 in the morning the risk was very high. We lathered up the kids with sunscreen and limited their outdoor time to 30 minutes.

I am thrilled to have this handy tool with me from now on! Now I can feel even more prepared to keep my family safe from the harmful UV rays, taking the proper precautions to protect our sensitive skin and hopefully prevent lasting effects on our bodies.
