A Blogtastic Extravaganza Sponsor Spotlight: ERGObaby Carrier review and *Extra Entries*

Our final sponsor for A Blogtastic Extravaganza is ERGObaby!

One of the must-have items for any mom is a good quality baby carrier. This has become even more important for me having recently had my 4th baby. There are many times I have to get things done that do not allow me to physically hold him, and most of those times he wants to be held. And honestly, I want to hold him! What mother doesn’t want to be close to her baby?

With my first baby, I registered for a carrier and was also handed-down one from another mom from church. I didn’t know anything about baby carriers and didn’t really think that one could really be that much better than another. Little did I know…!

The carrier I had registered for was nice enough, but only worked as a back carrier. This was great when the kids got older, but as infants I was stuck with the hand-me-down carrier. Don’t get me wrong; I was thankful to have been given one. But man, was it uncomfortable! I used it often, but it always left me with an achy back and shoulders.

After having discovered blogging and reviews and giveaways, I learned all about the ERGObaby Carriers. I was in love! Not only did I love the way they looked, but every review I’d ever read had raved about them! A friend of mine had purchased one and also loved it. I decided I had to have one.

I was thrilled when Hannah from ERGObaby agreed to send me a gently used ERGObaby Carrier and infant insert to review!

I literally tore open the box as soon as it arrived. I was pleasantly surprised to see that “gently used” meant “basically brand new”. I honestly can not tell that anyone has used this before. I also immediately noticed the quality of the fabric. It is definitely made from a very durable material, which I know will last us a very long time.

I love how easy it is to put on. I have a wrap- which I LOVE- but it really takes some time to get used to how to put it on. Even now that I know how to put on the wrap it still takes time to get all.that.material wrapped around me properly. With the ERGObaby carrier it’s just a simple buckle around the waist, shoulder straps on, buckle around the chest/back (depending on if you are wearing on front or back), and tighten! Easy-peasy! I love that I can throw this in my car for shopping trips or hikes or where-ever I may want to use a carrier. I never take my wrap with me because all that material not only takes time to put on, but would also be hanging on the dirty ground while I’m trying to get it all situated… ick!

I have worn the ERGO with Connor around the house a few times, but gave it the true test when I went on a 4 mile hike this past weekend. I was amazed that, even after 4 miles, my back didn’t hurt at all (although I can’t say the same for my calves and thighs)! The shoulder straps were very nicely padded, which kept my shoulders from hurting as well. The handy little pocket in front was the perfect size to fit my cell phone and keys. For about half of the hike, we were in full sun. It was so nice to be able to use the sleeping hood to cover his head. Connor liked riding in the ERGObaby Carrier so much that he ended up sleeping through most of it. While he was awake, he enjoyed chewing/sucking on the straps. On the ERGObaby website I saw that they sell teething pads which are meant to go on the straps and give baby something to chew on. This is something I am definitely going to have to purchase!

I tried to use the infant insert with Connor but he didn’t like it at all. He is past the age where he really likes to be swaddled much, and the insert also comes up higher around the head which didn’t allow him to look around. He didn’t like that at all. Fortunately he has great head support, so that wasn’t an issue. The infant insert is a must with a baby under 4 months old, however, so be sure and purchase one if you intend to use your ERGObaby carrier with a new baby.

I LOVE our ERGObaby Carrier and am so thrilled it lived up to exceeded my expectations. This is a carrier I will highly recommend to friends and family from now on.

Buy it: You can purchase an ERGObaby Carrier for $105-$135 depending on which style you choose. If you’re like me, you may hesitate when you see the price.
