Spring Training 2011

I love Arizona for so many reasons, but one reason is for our amazing weather which brings so many awesome events!

15 major league baseball teams have spring training here at 10 beautiful stadiums.

Today we were able to enjoy a Diamondbacks spring training game at the new stadium they share with the Colorado Rockies, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick.  The weather was a gorgeous sunny 69 degrees, and other than insane food prices (should we expect anything less?), it was awesome! We were even able to enjoy it with some friends. We were in great seats, and we even *almost* caught a home run. It literally bounced right where one of our friends was sitting, but he was gone getting food! AH! Gary was about to grab the ball when, out of nowhere, some guy from out of nowhere literally stepped on Erik to snatch the ball. He jumped ON our blankets and ON Erik in order to reach the ball. CRAZY! Erik was fine, just a bit startled, as were we!

  1. Looks like everyone was having a great time. Looks like awesome weather for baseball.

  2. Sounds like fun! (With the exception of getting run over! Good thing Erik is okay.) The weather is definitely gorgeous there too…another winter storm here today…Rich didn't even make it to work :-/ Your pics are making me think warm thoughts though! 😉

  3. It was fun! And you got some great pictures.

  4. Why is it that someone always comes out of no where to snag the balls? I always hope they will catch the ball and turn and give it to a kid……okay, I can always hope, right?

  5. Ugh…so jealous! That looks like so much fun! I've never been to AZ but it is somewhere I've always wanted to go. We're talking about heading down there next spring to go to a few of the spring training games! And I must say, I'm loving the Cubs jacket! Go Cubbies!!
