A mom’s take on the Safety 1st onBoard Air Infant Car Seat

When my husband and I decided we were ready to become parents, we knew we wanted to make some of the big purchases early to help ease the financial hit.  We looked around and ended up purchasing a Travel System that was neutral in color.  My first 3 kids were all very close together- 18 and 20 months apart- and so we were able to use the same infant car seat and just keep passing it down.  But when I became pregnant with our 4th 2 years later, I knew we were going to have to purchase a new car seat.

Being a lover of blog giveaways, I thought I might just get lucky and win one.  I entered every.single car seat giveaway I could find, but never did get that winning email.

Thankfully, I have an amazing blogging friend Nancy, (blogging BFF actually!), who won a Safety 1st onBoard 35 Air Infant Car Seat and gifted it to me!  Isn’t she the best?! It was such blessing to us!

I was thrilled to have a new car seat for our baby that had such great safety features!  It features Air Protect side impact technology.  I was especially thrilled about this after reading this bit of info from the Safety 1st website:

1 in 4 car crashes involving children are side impact collisions. They are by far the deadliest type of collision for children, accounting for 1 in 3 child fatalities; nearly all of which are caused by head trauma.

What a relief to have this car seat and know my precious little baby has great protection every time we drive in the car.

Equally awesome is that this rear facing car seat has additional leg room and a harness specially designed to fit preemies, so it accommodates babies from 4 lbs up to 35 lbs!  With the other car seat we had for my first 3 kids, we had to purchase a new convertible car seat by the time they were just over 6 months because they were too long to fit in the car seat safely.

Connor is now almost 11 months and almost 20 lbs, and he fits in the onBoard 35 Air Infant Car Seat just as well as he did the day we brought him home from the hospital!

If you are a new parent, or are in search of a good infant car seat, I HIGHLY recommend the Safety 1st onBoard Air Infant car seat!  It comes in 4 different color options (love them all!) and retails for $169.99.

  5. It looks like a great carseat… and Connor has gotten so big! I can't believe he'll be a year soon!

  6. I'd love to have one of these for our next baby seeing as I loaned dd's to my BIL and I highly doubt we'll ever get it back! LOL That's ok cause it was just a basic infant car seat…nothing fancy!

  7. Wish I had seen this review (well, wish it had been written) before we bought our car seat. Our son is only 3 months old and is almost out of his seat. We'll have to buy a new carseat soon!

  8. Thanks for a great review! We're looking at carseats right now as I am pregnant with our second baby (due in December). My daughter is less than 2 1/2 so I know we could use the same care seat, but I never did like it that much. I never felt like it was terribly secure in the back seat. It wiggled a little too much for my liking. I will definitely check this out. Thanks!
