I love goodies; Sweets are my friend. I’m always open to discovering new treats and new brands, which is why I was excited when I was recently introduced to MI-DEL cookies! MI-DEL cookies are all natural and organic. Seems like more and more we are hearing horrible things about the additives in our food, so I’m happy to learn about companies that make natural and organic products.
However, let’s be honest, sometimes natural and organic food taste yucky, bland or ‘different’. I was curious to see how MI-DEL cookies would taste, and wondered how they’d rate with my kids- the real critics!
Off I went on my search for MI-DEL cookies. I had a difficult time finding a grocery store near me that sold these cookies. The link on the MI-DEL website showed a few within 10 miles of me, but unfortunately it wasn’t always accurate, and the stores shown didn’t carry many, if any, varieties of the cookies. The store listed that did have the cookies shelved only sold one variety, and I didn’t want to purchase 3 bags of the same flavor; I really wanted to get a true taste of the brand!
I should have known to check the local farmers market that I frequent, and that they’d be there in the cookie section! After all, MI-DEL cookies are all natural and organic cookies! DUH!
I chose the gluten-free Arrowroot cookies, Ginger Snaps, and gluten-free Chocolate Chip Cookies.
My mom-a fellow sweets lover- was over for dinner and immediately saw the bag of chocolate chip cookies. She ripped it open and ate one (for her “appetizer”, haha) and stated her approval. These chocolate chip cookies are crunchy, and while she was clear that she prefers a soft chocolate chip cookie over a crunchy one, she was pleasantly surprised with how good these were, and had a few more- just to be sure…
I liked each kind, but of all three of the varieties we tried, my personal favorites are the ginger snaps. I love to dunk them in milk when I eat them, but cant resist grabbing a few as a snack even without milk every once in a while too.
How did the kids rate them though?
After dinner I offered the kids a few of each kind of cookie for their dessert, along with a glass of milk (to dunk the ginger snaps in, of course). They loved them! They wanted more, and are thrilled that I offer them these cookies for a treat frequently. How can I not? I love that they are eating healthier desserts and not realizing it!
I even gave an arrowroot cookie to Connor, and he gobbled it up in no time. These are a nice treat for him, and an easy snack for me to throw in the diaper bag for him for on the go, or to toss to him in his high chair to hold over his grumbling tummy while he impatiently waits for me to finish cooking dinner.
I am so glad to have found a healthier choice when it comes to desserts for our family, and am glad to know I can pick them up each week when I visit my farmers market for my other food items! Even better, now I have a great dessert to offer my guests who require gluten-free food (which can be a very difficult task)!
