We live in hot, dry Arizona. My kids’ pediatrician highly recommends that we run a humidifier year round, but especially during the winter time when it’s cold and flu season. Each time I bring the kids in sick in the winter, the first question she asks is, “Do you have a humidifier running in their rooms?”
For this reason I am sure to have a humidifier on hand, knowing at the first sign of sickness- especially in the winter- that I’ll be able to pull it out of the closet and set it up to give them some relief, (and hopefully avoid a trip to the pediatrician). I’ve purchased a handful of humidifiers since having my first child over 7 years ago, and really do use them every.single.winter.
So what is the benefit of using a cool mist humidifier? Humidifiers put moisture back into the air. They alleviate symptoms of dry air, such as sinus headaches, dry skin, sneezing and coughing. They also make for easier breathing, and are an excellent way for allergy and asthma sufferers to moisturize the air during the dry winter months. (Info from iallergy.com)
I’ve seen Crane Humidifiers at many stores that I shop at. The Crane Adorables can’t help but stand out; They are so, well, adorable! I had heard many good things about these humidifiers, and was anxious to try one.
We chose the ADORABLE Dragon humidifier!
The humidifier was easy to prepare for use. Just in case I wasn’t sure exactly where to fill it with water, there was a tag on the humidifier to show me. Simply unscrew the water tank cap, fill the water tank with cold water, (best to use filtered or distilled water to avoid white dust accumulation due to hard water), put the cap back on and place it on the water tank! Then place the water tank mist lid on the water tank, plug it in and turn it on! The green indicator light on the front tells you when there is power.
From the moment I turned it on, I was immediately impressed. It is so quiet I can hardly hear it! One of the humidifiers I had to use when Brooke was a baby was so loud it kept us up at night. The other ones we’ve tried were very loud as well.
I also like how I can adjust the intensity of the mist by turning the knob on the front. If I want more mist (more humidity output) I simply turn the knob clockwise. The mist can be easily seen emitting from the mist lid when turned up enough.
When the water level is low, the indicator light on the front turns red and the unit “shuts off”.
There are many recommendations of use with this humidifier to ensure proper safety, health and quality of the humidifier. All are easy instructions to follow, and well worth it to be sure you get many years of life from your humidifier!
The Crane humidifier is my absolute favorite of all the brands we’ve tried, and I will not ever purchase another brand of humidifier again!
