There is nothing worse than when something wakes my sleeping child. When they’re sick, getting them to sleep can sometimes be near impossible, so the thought of waking them to take their temperature upsets me for many reasons…
KidzMed Veratemp Non-Contact Thermometer has solved this problem! It uses a totally safe infrared technology to measure the heat radiating off of your child’s forehead. All you have to do is get within 2-3 inches of their forehead, press the scan button and instantly their temperature is displayed on the screen. It has a backlit LCD screen, making it easy to read even in a dark room.
One of the features I like best about it is that the screen changes color based on the temperature; the color will show green if the temperature is between 97.3°F and 99.1°F (36.3°C and 37.3°C), orange if between 99.3°F and 100.2°F (37.4°C and 37.9°C), and red if the temperature is greater than 100.4°F (38°C). This shows me when the temperature is in fact higher than normal (in case my half-awake mind isn’t clear enough to think straight in the middle of the night).
I was curious if the KidzMed Thermometer would take a reading similar to the other thermometers we had. I figured it would probably differ a bit, as it measures the temperature from the forehead rather than rectally or through the ear. My baby had been sick and running a fever. The pediatrician suggests not using the ear thermometer we have, as a baby’s ear canal is too small to get an accurate reading, so I usually take his temperature rectally and we hate it! The last time I took his temperature, it read normal (yay!) and I decided to see how the KidzMed would read…
As you can see, it was almost exactly the same! I am so glad to have something that I know will give me an accurate reading, and avoid the rectal thermometer forever!!
When my daughter became sick, I went right to the KidzMed.
You can see the LCD display was orange, as her temperature was a bit higher than normal. She was, in fact, running a low-grade fever. Poor thing.
My son was sick and running a fever the other evening. I didn’t take his temperature before he went to bed, but his forehead was hot, his cheeks were flushed and his eyes were glossy. I know temperatures can often get higher at night, so when I wanted to take his temperature before I went to bed I grabbed the KidzMed. I pushed the scan button and nothing happened. What?! Dead batteries. And no more AAA batteries in the house. Bummer!! I had to get out the ear thermometer, turn on the light (since it doesn’t light up to show me the temperature and I can’t see in the dark), and wake him to take his temperature. BOO! Needless to say, the very next day we went and got more batteries so I wouldn’t be without the KidzMed anymore!
The KidzMed Thermometer can also measure the temperature of the room as well as the surface temperature of objects. To change the mode to one of these, simply press the mode button until it is at the desired mode, then press the scan button to find out the temperature! This is great to measure the temperature of your baby’s bath water, food, bottles, and even the temperature of their room. I measured the room temperature next to our thermostat, as well as the temperature of some water I heated for our oatmeal.
The KidzMed Thermometer will store the last 32 readings in it’s memory, and are easy to go back to just by pressing the memory button.
I am so glad we have the KidzMed! Sickness is never fun, but the KidzMed has made it a little less painful.
