Building toys are always a great gift for kids. They inspire creativity, create endless possibilities, and give a great opportunity for interaction between parents and their children.
First we opened the Talking Pirate Elmo set. This is a fun set for children ages 2+. It features 16 large pieces. The coolest thing about this set is that it has a piece that allows Elmo to talk! Elmo speaks 2 phrases: “Elmo is pretending to be a pirate!” and “What kind of treasure can we find?“. The sheet with the assembly directions also features activity ideas for you and your child while playing with Talking Pirate Elmo, as well as fun facts about pirates and their gear.
My 4 year old Erik was eager to try to build this on his own, with no help from anyone. I knew as soon as I saw the photo directions he’d be able to do it on his own just fine! The photo directions are large and clear. Within 5 minutes Erik had Elmo built!
A few minutes later he took it apart and built it again, and since then has played with it and made different creations as well!
Logan, my 7 year old, was also eager to create the cool monster truck kit! This kit has over 100 pieces, and comes with 2 K’NEXmen drivers for the finished monster trucks. It is recommended for ages 5+.
Logan followed the photo directions pretty well, but expressed that he wished it had written directions or larger photos to be able to better understand how some of the pieces go on (especially the smaller ones). He did a pretty good job, but after building for a bit decided he was ready for a break. He decided to wait until the next morning when his dad could help him (it’s way more fun to do it with dad anyway)!
It was great for the two of them to have time to spend together! One-on-one time is always great, but being the oldest of 4 kids, Logan especially loves the one-on-one time with his dad. Logan and dad had a great time building together!
They were both impressed with the finished product, and had a great time crashing them into each other and driving over the ramps and graveyard, demolishing them!
Wait!! Have you entered all of my Holiday giveaways?
