For each of my 4 children, learning to eat with a fork or spoon was always an interesting experience. It took them quite a bit of practice before they finally figured out how to turn their hand enough to get the fork or spoon in there, and in the meantime they were frustrated and food was everywhere; all over their face, clothes, high chair…
It hasn’t been long since Connor, my 15 month old, started trying to eat with utensils, so when I saw the new Learn ‘N’ Turn I was eager to try it with him!
The Learn ‘N’ Turn utensil’s patent pending, award winning design allows you to adjust the angle of the spoon to help babies and toddlers feed themselves easily.
The spoon or fork attachment can rotate to various positions, creating the proper angle so food can be easily placed into his or her mouth . As your child’s wrists and hands develop, and their dexterity improves, you can adjust the angle of the spoon or fork accordingly.
It is so easy to adjust! Just simply rotate the fork or spoon gently from side to side! This utensil is especially great because it can accommodate right or left handed children. The spoon and fork attachments don’t just fall off either. The only way to remove or insert the attachments is to rotate the attachment to a 90 degree angle, aligning both arrows on the handle and the attachment.
The Learn ‘N’ Turn is dishwasher safe (top rack)! It comes with the spoon and fork attachment, but you can purchase additional spoon and fork attachments, as well as additional handles, from the Learn ‘N’ Turn website. It comes in 4 fun colors!
It’s been fun watching Connor eat with the Learn ‘N’ Turn. He looked a bit confused at first, but it didn’t take him long to get the hang of it. He still resorts to using his hands to eat from time to time, or- if the food is really good- he’ll use both to maximize intake, but overall he is doing great! Every few days I’ve been able to adjust the spoon/fork a little more to make it like the “normal” spoons and forks, and I know it won’t be long before he’ll be a pro!
And yes, it’s still a learning process and he is still a mess when he’s done, but he’s having fun!
