Tonka Strong Arm Cement Mixer from Funrise Toys: Review and Giveaway {2011 Holiday Gift Guide}

What do you use to build a house in your back yard?  If you were 4 years old, you’d use your Tonka Strong Arm Cement Mixer, some rocks and all the junk you could find!  That’s exactly what my 4 year old son Erik did the first time he played with this toy, and has played this way almost every time since!  There is no more perfect toy for the job!

Take on heavy-duty fun with the Tonka Strong Arm Cement Mixer. This large free-wheeling truck rolls in on big treaded tires. The Cement Mixer features a multi-action trigger-lever built right in. Pull and rev-up the lever and watch the sparks fly in the arm’s window as the truck rumbles. Squeeze the lever’s trigger to rotate and mix in the cement barrel. When the mixing is done, barrel is removable for easy cleaning. Tonka Strong Arms built for Kid Powered Fun! No batteries required.

Tonka has been a huge name in toys for boys and girls since the first Tonka truck was released almost 65 years ago!  Tonka consistently makes high quality trucks that last for years and years, making Tonka a favorite brand to many.  We love Tonka for their quality, as well as the fun features many of their toys have, helping boost my children’s imaginations.

This Tonka truck proved no different, and literally could not get out of the box before Erik was playing with it, testing out the lever to watch the sparks fly and watch the cement barrel rotate. It wasn’t long before he and his sister were “building houses” and frantically trying to finish before “the storm” came!  Erik had rocks in his mixer, excitedly spinning it and hearing them tumble. One got stuck, but since the barrel is removable, it was easy to pop out with a bit of prying with little fingers (thanks big sister Brooke)!

Connor, who is just 14 months old, wanted to get his hands on the Cement Mixer too, and even my 7 year old- though sick with the stomach flu at the time- still couldn’t resist going outside to check it out! I love that it doesn’t require batteries, just got ol’ fashioned kid power (imagine that)!
