Summer Activity Guide: Visit your local library!

If you’ve never visited your local library, you’re missing out.  Not only are there tons of great books for your children, but there are fun movies, books on tape, and even kindle books available to download! Our local library even offers Kindles to borrow!  Best of all, it’s all free!

Libraries also offer more than books and movies to rent though, We have 4 libraries within about 10 miles of our home.  They all have a kids’ area with little tables to read at.  Some have puzzles for the kids to do, some have little computers where the kids can watch a kids’ show or play an easy educational game, some have play areas with fun toys for even the littlest kiddos.  Each of these libraries has story time and music time for kids of all ages (even babies) which are separated by age groups, as well as family story time.

Our libraries also have a summer reading program to encourage kids to read!  Every 5 books gets the child a prize, and once they get to 20 books read they get a new book to keep and a free ticket to see our local major league baseball team- the Arizona Diamondbacks- play a game! Super cool, right?!

After further looking into events with the library, I found magic shows, puppet shows, steel drum concerts, crocheting classes, science experiment classes and more!

Check your local library to see what fun things they are offering for your kids this summer!
