Never Stop Learning Sponsor Spotlight: Uncle Milton- Earth Tag and Ultimate Dino Digs

Last Christmas we were able to review an awesome product from Uncle Milton, and I’m thrilled be sharing more awesome products from them during the Never Stop Learning Event!

We were sent the Earth Tag (sling shot) and Ultimate Dino Digs to review.

I knew the Earth Tag would be a huge hit with my kids.  They love to set up little army men and other characters and shoot them down with their toy guns (thanks to granddad for introducing Logan to this fun activity), so I knew they would love to have a new spin on the game!  Earth Tag comes with the sling shot and 3 balls, and the sling shot has a belt clip on it so it can be toted around where-ever your child may want to take it.

It took the kids a bit to figure out how to use it properly, but once they did they had a blast!

So you may be thinking; A sling shot? Really?  We were asked the same thing by some friends of ours. However this is a bit different; the balls are soft foam, and I’m pretty sure no matter how hard one may try, there’s no way these would break anything. (Knock on wood)  This is also made so it is incapable of launching anything other than the balls created for it.  Rather than a sling on the sling shot, there are knobs on the side.  Each ball has a stretchy band on either side that hooks over the knobs, allowing it to be pulled back and launched.  I don’t have to worry about marbles or legos or race cars being put in it and flying through the air; only soft foam balls.

Next up was the Ultimate Dino Digs, Triceratops!  I knew this would be geared more for Logan- my 8 year old- but I had no idea what a great time we’d all have with it!

Dino Digs allows your child to feel like a real paleontologist; using a chisel, hammer and brush, you chip away at the “rock” to uncover dinosaur bones.  When you’re all done, assemble the bones to create the dinosaur skeleton!

Logan had a great time chipping away the rock.  Each new bone revealed led to more and more excitement.  Chipping away the rock makes your hands tired after a bit, so we each took turns with the hammer and chisel.  In the instructions it says to be sure and wear clothes that can get messy, and to cover your work surface or excavate outside for easier clean up.

I would just like to reiterate that; it is a huge mess excavating, and I’d recommend doing it outside.  Also, watch little hands that may be helping… They may help some of the bones “walk away”! 😉

After all of the bones were uncovered, we washed off the pieces and sat down to assemble our triceratops’ skeleton.  It wasn’t too hard to figure out where everything went, but there is a certain order they have to go in to fit properly so it took a few times of pulling it apart and reassembling it before we got them on right.

Digging up the dinosaur bones was a blast and our triceratops looks so cool!  It is even made so you can swivel the head and open and close the mouth. Logan just loves it!

Even my husband kept repeating over and over how cool it was, and we were all eager for our turn to uncover more bones!  Do I see paleontology in my kids’ future?  After the blast we had with this, I wouldn’t be surprised!

Do you know a child who would love to play with this? Maybe you can use it in your own homeschool curriculum?!  Head over to the Never Stop Learning giveaway post and enter to win your own now! **For 10 extra entries in the giveaway, leave a comment below telling me which Uncle Milton product you like best!**
