We love the outdoors and love to go camping. During the summertime- when heat can get pretty unbearable at times- camping up in cooler areas is a perfect solution!
When my FIL came to visit in June, we took the opportunity to go camping. He and my husband were used to camping at a campground (they used to go twice a year in Wisconsin up until a few years ago), but my kids and I had never been. When we camp we generally go in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nothing but nature.
The campground was a different experience. I loved that there were showers and flushing toilets, but I could have done without being camped so close to other people. All in all though, we had an amazing time and plan on doing it again when my FIL visits next time!
Whether you find a campground to camp at, or find a secluded area in the woods somewhere, camping can be a really fun way to spend quality time with your family and get away from it all. It’s just you and them, enjoying nature and all it has to offer. We enjoy fishing, hiking/climbing/exploring, relaxing…
On our trip with my FIL, my kids were able to experience catching their first (and second, third, fourth, fifth…) fish. What an experience! Erik was the first to catch one. As you can see in the following picture, daddy was probably more proud of Erik than Erik was of himself!
Since the fire danger is SO high here, we weren’t able to have a campfire. We still enjoyed ourselves despite not being able to make BBQ hot dogs and smores (*gasp* right?), and instead grilled hot dogs on a propane grill and ate Nutty Bars for dessert instead.
Here are some more pictures of our trip that I’ve shared before (and adore) in case you missed them.
Fun and gorgeous right?! Check out campgrounds in your area and see what adventures lay ahead of you!
