I haven’t always been a big online shopper when it comes to clothes, unless they’re for my husband because he never goes shopping for himself anyway so it doesn’t matter if he tries it on first or not. When it comes to me though I like to try things on, or at least look at it in person before I buy. I find myself more and more going the online route lately though. There are way more options online to find exactly what you’re looking for, and the added bonus of not having to drag your kids into a store or find a babysitter. My new favorite time of day to shop is at night after the kids are in bed and the house is finally quiet. It was during one of these times that I got the chance to check out Belly Dance Maternity‘s online website. It’s a good thing I had more than five uninterrupted minutes to browse (as you moms know, even five minutes when the kids are awake can be pushing it), because their site had a huge selection of maternity clothing to choose from. One of the things I really liked about their website is they offer items from several different designers/companies. This gives you the convenience of finding lots of different styles all in one place. Kind of like going to a department store without leaving the house.
I spent a lot of time, I won’t admit how much, just looking around. Since there were so many options it was difficult to narrow it down enough to make a final selection. When it comes to clothes I want to make sure whatever pieces I do finally choose can be used for more than one occasion. This is why I opted for the NOM Cobalt Nina Maternity Sweater. It looked casual enough to wear to the store or the park, yet nice enough to be worn with a skirt or slacks too. When it arrived in the mail I was really excited about the color. I don’t have anything else in this particular shade of blue and I immediately fell in love with it. It is also incredibly soft and lightweight. When I tried it on I did notice that while this fabric isn’t sheer, I definitely wanted to wear a cami or other shirt under it. It’s a bit see through anywhere it stretches out, especially in the sunlight. I didn’t mind that though since I have lots of clothes I need to layer like that.
This shirt is machine washable (yay!), but does need to be laid flat to dry. Due to the light fabric it dries in no time though, and didn’t need any ironing. The sleeves on this shirt are meant to be buttoned up to a 3/4 length, but I tried it without buttoning them and thought that looked alright too. The button isn’t so noticeable that it looks strange undone. But I did end up wearing it with the button fastened.
I didn’t wear this sweater out among friends for the first time so I couldn’t get their reactions to it. I always like to gauge how much I like my new outfits by what friends may or may not say about them. It did however make me feel like I had put a little more effort into my outfit, even if it was just to take the kids out to lunch. I for one am all about comfort, especially when out with my kids. Yet I don’t want to walk around all the time in sweats or baggy t-shirts (as comfy as those may be). It’s nice to feel like I look a little less like a stay at home mom who is lucky if her clothes match when trying to get dressed in between making breakfast, diaper changes, and finding matching socks for the kids; and a little more like a woman who takes a little time for herself (and also loves being a mom!). This sweater did just that for me. I had my comfort, and a little style too. So needless to say I’m very happy with this sweater from Belly Dance Maternity. I would definitely recommend their website to any mom-to-be who is looking for something stylish yet functional to help get her through those months of anxiously awaiting the arrival of her new little member of the family.
