Strider No Pedal Balance Bike- 2012 Holiday Gift Guide

Connor, being the last of 4 kids, has some big shoes to fill…or so he thinks.  If his sister or brothers are doing it, he needs to be doing it too.

His big sister and brothers love to ride their bikes.  We had an old tricycle in the backyard that Connor could play on, but it’s so old and junky and the wheels wouldn’t stay pumped up.  So when we had a chance to review a Strider Balance Bike I knew it would be perfect for him!

Strider Balance Bikes are bikes with no pedals.  This allows your child to learn balance and coordination before having to worry about pedaling. Once they’ve got the hang of it, pedaling is a breeze!

The Strider is super lightweight. The wheels are hard plastic and all terrain, so no worries about having to replace a tube with a hold or pumping up flat wheels.

I knew this would be a great option for Connor.  I let him pick which color he wanted, and of course he picked the color his big brothers love most- green.

I was shocked when I opened the box and saw that there was barely any assembly needed! A few mere minutes is all it took before the bike was assembled and ready to go.

I was trying my hardest to get the kids out the door so we could take it to the park and let him ride it in a more open paved area, but it was hard to get him off of it and out of our backyard to get it in the car.

He took to the bike in no time, and before we left the park he was going down the slight hills, lifting his feet and balancing as best he could.  He had a spill or two, but took it like a champ, got back up and tried again.

I have no doubt he’ll be riding a 2-wheel bike early thanks to his Strider bike, but I also have no doubt that even when he can, he’ll still be riding on his Strider too.  It’s just so much fun! So much so that I’m having a hard time keeping his 5-year-old brother off of it!

Now when his siblings are out in the back yard riding circles, or out in the front yard riding down the sidewalk, he doesn’t have to sit and watch them.  He can hop on his Strider and join them!  And for a 2-year-old who has to keep up with his big sister and brothers, that’s a pretty awesome thing…

Now, to get him a helmet ASAP!

The Strider is the perfect gift for your young child.  If he’s walking, he can ride a Strider!

I was provided the above mentioned product for review purposes. Regardless, all opinions are 100% my own.

  1. Oh my gosh, that woud’ve been perfect for my kids as they were growing up! What a great idea as they get their first try at a bike! I can’t wait to see how he progresses as he gets older!

  2. He is just so stinkin’ cute! It’s so nice to see a toy that gives even the little ones a way to be like their older siblings! I love it!

  3. He’s doing great on that bike!

  4. I think this would be a great gift for my daughter! It seems like it would help her learn to ride a bike much sooner (which is something she really wants to do because all the “big kids” in the neighborhood ride their bikes).
