For anyone who has experienced the lack of sleep that only comes from having a newborn you get to the point where you will try just about anything to get just a few more hours, or even minutes, of sleep at night. It’s a given that your baby will be waking you up, but every parent wants the time they do spend sleeping to be sound and comfortable; and most of all safe. It’s easy to worry about a newborn when they aren’t in your arms and so a product that can keep them safer and more comfortable is an added bonus. The Halo SleepSack Swaddle is one of those products. It keeps your baby warm and cozy without the extra material, keeping their mouth and nose from accidentally being covered as they sleep. I’ve read several articles claiming a newborn baby who is swaddled sleeps more soundly and longer during the night. These ideas go along with the philosophy of the Halo family of products, as they try to provide families with items that will help their babies as they grow.
Although that may be the case for most babies, mine does not like to be swaddled when she sleeps at all! She wants her arms free and up by her head. Having them confined is a recipe for disaster. But even a newborn like mine can use the Halo SleepSack Swaddle. This sleepsack is designed to be used with the arms in or out…great! Even without swaddling I like the concept of a sleepsack because it keeps my baby covered in spite of any moving around they may do while sleeping. It’s also so much easier to manage than the typical sleeper with all those snaps. If you’re anything like me waking up at 1:00am does not improve your dexterity. When I’m in the half asleep half awake phase of diaper changing and feeding, messing with those snaps takes forever! The sleep sack has a zipper instead which makes diaper changing so easy. I also love that the zipper connects at the feet instead of by the neck, so no chance of that bothering my my little girl while she sleeps.
Another nice feature of the Halo SleepSack Swaddle is that it’s made of 100% cotton so it’s a very breathable material to keep your baby at a comfortable temperature. The SleepSack helps them stay warm enough without getting overheated. Keeping your baby at the right temperature is an important part of keeping them safe while they sleep. But not only is the the Halo SleepSack functional it comes in SO many adorable prints and colors. My husband always tells me our kids are not dolls, but when you can dress them up in something cute why wouldn’t you?
The Halo website is also a great resource, not only for product information but suggestions for baby safety as well. They provide tutorial videos as well as other information. The clothing itself also has picture directions for how to appropriately swaddle.
If you’re looking for sleep wear for your newborn that may even help them sleep better then definitely check out the Halo SleepSack…because when your baby sleeps better you sleep better too!
Edited to add: When posted this last night, I forgot to mention that HALO Innovation’s SleepSack Swaddle has become the standard for hospital nurseries and parents alike. In fact, almost 1,000 hospital nurseries use the HALO SleepSack Swaddle instead of blankets through the HALO Safer Way to Sleep Initiative. Be sure and check it out!
