I’m happy to say that after having Connor 2 years ago I was at my pre-pregnancy weight (actually about 10lbs less) shortly after having him. That said, any of you mommies know once you have kids things are proportioned differently, and while I’m happy to be at a ‘healthy’ weight for my height and overall feel okay in my own skin, I’d love to have a healthier, more toned body. We eat pretty decent- always having fruits and veggies with our meals- but I wanted to get to doing more physical activity as well. We enjoy hiking and not long ago did a 3-day backpacking hike at the Grand Canyon, but I wanted something more regular I could do in my own neighborhood with my family. My husband is obsessed with his mountain bike and also enjoys running, and he often brings the kids along for a short jog for his ‘warm-up’. The kids love it and also enjoy riding their bikes, so it shouldn’t surprise you to know that I’ve been dying for a jogging stroller for forever now.
For this reason, you can imagine my excitement when I got the Joovy Zoom 360 delivered to my doorstep. I couldn’t wait to get it all assembled and take it for a jog. I was pleased to see that all I really had to do was throw on the wheels, add the parent organizer (gotta have my cup holders and zippered storage container!) and we were ready to go!
Since Connor is 2 1/2 years-old, I wasn’t sure how cooperative he would be about having to sit in the stroller while the rest of us ran or while he watched his siblings ride their bikes, but when he knew it was for him he could hardly wait; I had to boot him out a time or two while I assembled it because it was nearly impossible to put the wheels on while he sat in the stroller.
For our first run I had to fold the stroller, throw it in our suburban and take it to my cousin’s house since she wanted to run with us. The stroller is super easy to fold by merely pulling a cord.
It’s also not terribly heavy at 26.8 lbs, so I was able to lift it up into the suburban easily enough. Also, while we do have quite a bit of room in the back of the suburban, I was pleased to see that the Zoom 360 folds fairly compactly.
There will be times I’m sure to have the stroller in the back and also need additional room for groceries or picnic basket or something, and thankfully I can have both!
The front wheel on the Zoom 360 can be locked into place if you intend on running or walking on a long straight path, or it can be unlocked allowing the wheel to swivel and move freely. When I assembled the Zoom 360 I had the front wheel locked, but about 200 yards into my first jog I realized that was not going to work. Jogging in the neighborhood means lots of turns, and so I needed to unlock it. I was pleased at how easy and quick it was. A simple flip of a lever and I had it unlocked in seconds. I was pleased at how smooth the ride was. Since Connor is nearly 30 pounds my husband thought it may be more difficult to push him in it, but I had no problems at all! And aside from the fact that it was not difficult to push him at his current weight, I’m also thrilled to know that -if I can manage to keep him interested in riding in the stroller- he can ride until he’s up to 75lbs! This stroller is meant for children from age 3 months and up, however, Joovy also sells a car seat adapter for Graco, Chicco, and Peg Perego car seats, making it a stroller you can use from day one. And with it’s shock absorbing suspension it makes for a comfy and safe ride for babies and children alike.
There are so many other awesome features of the Joovy Zoom 360. It is made from high quality material- 6061 aircraft grade aluminum and 600D fabric- making it one that will last through anything you can put it through. It features a large canopy with a sun visor and covered window, providing amazing sun protection (a MUST here in Arizona)!
It also comes with a rain/wind cover that is custom fit (something we won’t need often here in Arizona, but a great thing to have for other parts of the country). Personally, I love love love the good size storage basket underneath. While it isn’t wise to pack it full and weight it down while jogging, any mommy knows that we use our strollers everywhere, and yes, even a jogging stroller is used for more than just jogging. A decent size storage basket that can hold a diaper bag, shopping bags or other items is a nice thing to have. There are also mesh pockets in the seat which are perfect for those additional items you or your child want close, like toys, sippy cups, snacks, wipes… You get the idea.
The seat itself is extra wide for extra comfort, and also has multi-position reclining.
And of course, I am so glad for the easy one-step parking brake. With many of the other strollers I’ve had (regular, not jogging) the brake wasn’t very secure and didn’t keep the stroller from moving, rather just made it harder. This parking brake actually locks the wheel securely, a huge relief when you know your child is in it!
I’ve never owned another jogging stroller before, and so I don’t have anything to compare it to. However, I’m so thrilled with this that I have no desire to try a different one to compare! We’re loving our family jogging time, and I’m loving how much better I feel about myself because of it.
