Skincare for Baby’s Gentle Skin (Great For Adults Too!) From Exederm- Review and #Giveaway

I was recently introduced to a product line I wish I had known about before, exederm ultra sensitive skin care.  I’ve been able to try out a few of their baby care items and love that I don’t have to worry about ingredients that could be potentially harmful to my baby’s young skin.  As someone who suffers from mild dermatitis I pay closer attention to the skin of my kids to make sure it isn’t irritated by the things I’m using on them daily.  With the exederm products I’ve felt confident enough to use them without any worries about added ingredients that may cause an adverse reaction on their skin.  Not only is it worry free for my kids,  it’s great for me too.  When I’m having problems with my dermatitis (I only get it on a tiny patch on my hand), perfumed lotions and soaps can make it worse.  Since I have 3 young children obviously the soaps and lotions they use are probably going to get on my hands as well.  Added bonus for a mom with sensitive skin, is a line of skin care products for your children that won’t irritate yours either!

baby moisturizer

Exederm Baby ProductsI’ve been able to sample the intensive baby moisturizer, hydrating baby lotion, and non-irritating baby shampoo; and been happy with the results of each.  Now, I will say this if you are a person who LOVES the smell of typical baby shampoos and lotions then this product is not for you.  Since it is free of anything that could irritate skin it is obviously fragrance free and lacks that fresh scent of most baby products.  Clearly though if you’re looking into products for sensitive skin then you realize this and won’t be surprised, but thankful to find something without harsh perfumes that actually works.  What I love most about the lotion and moisturizer is the fact that a little goes such a long way.  A small amount of the moisturizer on my fingers can cover the arms and legs of my four month old, and although it doesn’t soak in right away the greasy “just lotioned” feel goes away quickly.  It doesn’t sit on the skin and leave a layer of film like some intense moisturizers often seem to do.  The same is true for the lotion.  A little goes a long way.  This is especially important for a mom on a budget, like me!  We want the items we choose to purchase to be high quality and last a reasonable amount of time.  If I have to use half a bottle of lotion each time it really isn’t cost effective for me to do so.

Hydrating lotion

happy to be without dry skinThe baby shampoo is the only item I’ve been a little hesitant about using on my baby.  While it is free of chemicals that could harm the skin it doesn’t mention being tear free.  It says on the bottle to keep out of eyes, which is my one concern about a shampoo made for babies.  I know my daughter isn’t going to shut her eyes, and keeping shampoo out of them while I’m rinsing is next to impossible…for me at least.

I have friends and family members with extreme allergies or other skin issues and I’ve already shared exederm with them.  My mom has completed radiation treatments and is currently going through chemotherapy for a very rare t-cell lymphoma on her skin.  As a result her skin is extremely sensitive to soaps, shampoos, and lotions.  One of the ingredients she really needs to avoid is sodium laureth sulfate, and I was shocked to find the number of things this is used in.  Including so called “sensitive” skin products.  She was even contemplating making her own lotion!  I immediately told her about what I’d learned about exederm, and that they had skin care for adults as well.  I’m hoping she’ll be able to find something she can use since all of their products are free of sodium laureth sulfate.

For more information on their entire line of products visit the exederm website.  They give in depth ingredient lists, answer questions, and and even offer printable coupons and a list of stores to buy their items from directly if you prefer to not order online.  Their site also offers special discounts for online purchases made there as well.  If you or your child has sensitive skin and suffers from eczema or dermatitis I would definitely recommend trying some of the exederm products and giving your skin some relief!
