With a family of six we do a lot of grocery shopping. The older my kids get the more they eat, and it feels as if I go to the store every day. Okay, so it’s not really every day, but it’s not uncommon to go a few times a week. All of that shopping for food can add up, so it’s important to me to shop sales. However, gas is expensive too and that makes the grocery stores with gas rewards appealing. It’s a win-win when I can shop sales at the grocery store and earn gas rewards toward cheaper gas for our family vehicle!
Until recently I was only aware of one grocery store in our city that offered gas rewards for grocery purchases. Many members of my family shop there to take advantage of the gas rewards, so I’m excited to be able to share with them (and you, of course) that Safeway now has a Gas RewardPoints Program! Now you have even more options when it comes to grocery shopping and gas rewards.
Safeway has teamed up with participating Texaco and Chevron stations to offer you a savings at the pump. For every $1 you spend on groceries, you’ll earn 1 gas rewards point. For every 100 points you earn, you’ll save 10 cents per gallon toward your fill up. You are limited to earning up to 1,000 points per month, equivalent to $1 per gallon off. You can purchase qualifying gift cards and earn 4 times (4x) the gas rewards points. Additionally, certain grocery items are marked with a 4x tag indicating that you also earn 4 times the gas rewards points. It’s so easy to save!
Redeeming is easy too! When you’re ready to redeem your RewardPoints, simply go to participating Texaco and Chevron locations and follow the prompts on the screen. You will be asked to enter in your Club Card number, at which point you may choose to redeem some, all, or none of your RewardPoints at that time.
I had a list of the items I needed to purchase this week, and after checking the Safeway ad I noticed many of those items were on sale, and some of them were marked with the 4x tag!
I was also nice to walk into my local Safeway and see a sign about the RewardPoints, along with nearby participating Texaco and Chevron locations.
Upon checkout I realized my Club Card I had was lost, and my phone number wasn’t associated with my card. No worries, it took me less time to fill out the slip for a new card than it did for the cashier to ring up all of my groceries. Generally upon checkout your gas RewardPoints are shown at the bottom of your receipt so you know exactly how many you’ve earned from your purchases. However- since I had a new card- my Gas RewardPoints didn’t immediately show at the bottom of my receipt. I was assured by customer service that my card automatically keeps track of my rewards, regardless of what the receipt showed (or didn’t show), and if I were to go to the pump I could still redeem my rewards. If I needed further reassurance and affirmation, I could call 1-877-Safeway and they could tell me how many points I had earned.
In case I haven’t made myself clear, I’m so excited to now have more options for grocery shopping AND gas rewards; what family wouldn’t love that?!
Safeway would love to get you started earning your rewards points by offering one of you a $50 g/c! To enter, complete the rafflecopter form below. Giveaway ends at 12:01am EST on 8/6.
