Wordless Wednesday- Final Firestation Visit

Another Not So Wordless… 🙂

My uncle has been on the Phoenix Fire Department, serving our community for the last 24+ years.  Over the years we’ve loved visiting the station, riding on the trucks, going with him on calls, having him show up to birthday parties in the truck… A few weeks ago he retired, so on his last day we went for our final visit (at least with him working there).

Kids and Uncle at stationHis first day retired marked the first day since the 1930’s that a member of our family hasn’t been serving on the Phoenix Fire Department.  (Makes me proud that my family has been serving in this capacity for so long!) We’re hoping it won’t be too long before my cousin carries on the legacy…  And someday, Erik may carry it on as well!  He has said he wants to be a fire fighter… We’ll see what life has in store for him. He sure is adorable with the helmet on though! 🙂

I’m curious if you’ve seen the documentary “Burn”? It’s about the Detroit Fire Dept….very interesting!! It’s what Rich wanted for Father’s Day-LOL!

    • I haven’t seen that Kristie… I’ll have to look into it for sure! Thanks for the recommendation! 🙂
