On Tuesday I shared two of the sweet new Trudeau products that I use in my kitchen all of the time now. Today I want to share with you the other two products I got that I am loving!
First, one I have used more times than I can count since I received it; the Silicone Splatter Screen.
I love a product that is 2-in-1 or 3-in-1, something that can replace more than one product and save me some much needed cupboard space. The Silicone Splatter Screen is just that! It can be used as a splatter screen to keep your kitchen clean while you’re cooking things that may splatter, as a strainer (I LOVE this and use it all of the time for this), and as a trivet. It is heat resistant to 482°F (250°C) and is dishwasher safe. With it’s generous size- 11 inches in diameter- it fits over (and under) every pot and pan that we have.
Taking pictures of myself using this was nearly impossible, but I did my best.
The final product I received is the Zest Grater.
This handy and rugged zest grater features an ultra fine grating surface that is ideal for lemons, limes, hard cheeses, nutmeg, garlic and vegetables. Each blade is honed to an optimum cutting angle for minimum effort and maximum flavor. The retractable handle doubles as a protective sleeve for secure storage. Also features a non-slip base. The zester is top rack dishwasher safe; however, to preserve the sharpness of the blades, it is recommended to hand wash.
Up until now, I did not own a zest grater. There have been many recipes I’ve made that called for lemon zest or orange zest that I had to omit because I didn’t have a grater. I tried using my cheese grater to do it, but that didn’t work well- at all.
Once I started making recipes with fresh ginger rather than ground ginger, I had to figure something out. I googled different things and tried different things, but nothing worked as well as a proper grater would have. Right after I got the Trudeau zest grater, I happened to be making a recipe that called for ginger. I grabbed this and was so stoked at how easy it was; it was wonderful not to have to struggle with other tools to try and get a tiny bit of fresh grated ginger!
I also appreciate the safety measures taken to protect fingers (especially little, curious fingers) from being cut on the grater when it’s not in use. The green button on the handle must be pressed down before the grater can be pulled out. It locks in place for use, then a press of the button unlocks it and allows you to slide it closed again. Easy for me to do, not easy for my 3 year old.
Amanda also received two other awesome Trudeau products you’ll want to check out; the Kitchen Gloves and the Pinch Bowls. Check out her review (I want those kitchen gloves)!!
