More fun games to share with you. You know how much we love games, and these ones didn’t disappoint!
First, for the big kids- Multiplication Slam!
This game has been best for my 9-year-old, who is the correct age and grade level for each of these games. He loves to answer each round as fast as he can, then challenge himself to beat his time the next round. However, it’s been a great learning tool for all of the kids! Each of my kids has had a great time playing this, even my 3-year-old! He sits next to big brother who tells him what number to look for and press. Big brother practices his multiplication skills, little brother practices learning his numbers!
It’s also been great to help my 6-year-old with his skip counting. He’s fine with counting by 2’s and 5’s, but 3’s, 4’s, 6’s, 7’s, 8’s and 9’s are much more difficult. This has been a great learning tool for him, and he’s getting better all of the time.
Additionally, my 7–year-old is about ready to begin multiplication, so this is giving her an early start. Teaching her math has been a challenge (she’s such a perfectionist and hates if it doesn’t come to her right away, or if she gets something wrong), so this has been awesome. If she gets it wrong she keeps trying until she gets it right, and she can’t get frustrated with me! 🙂
The next game we are ALL loving is Raccoon Rumpus!
It’s your job to help the raccoons get dressed. Roll the dice to see what he/she is going to wear, then choose a matching costume card. Will it be a blue shirt? Green pants? Roll a rainbow and pick any costume you want, but watch out for the underwear or you’ll lose all your costumes! The first to collect 5 costumes wins!
This game is a blast! I was excited to get it for my 3-year-old because we don’t have very many games that are his skill level. We modify games we have to make them easier for him, but then those games aren’t always as fun for the rest of us. This game is great for him and all of us. It’s fun to pick which costume your raccoon gets to wear, and it’s really fun to roll the dice and wait to see if you win, or if you have to put all of your costumes back and start over.
The kids are constantly asking if they can play these games. How can I say no?! They have also been great games to toss to the kids when they’re “bored”. They’re having fun, which makes them happy, and they’re learning, which makes mama happy!
