When it comes to gifts, not everyone would consider floor coverings.  The fact is, however, that many of us love new products with which to decorate our homes, and a quality, gorgeous floor rug is a welcomed gift!

Mohawk Home flooring is still made in America, one of the main reasons I LOVE them!  I’m always happy to support local companies, but even more-so when the quality is so outstanding.

Mohawk sells floor covering and textiles for every room in the home and for every commercial application. Hardwood flooring, laminate flooring, ceramic tile flooring, stone and marble flooring and, via an exclusive distribution agreement with Congoleum, vinyl sheet flooring are among the newest Mohawk product offerings. What’s more, the company now offers woven bedspreads, tapestries, pillows, throws and window blinds. Mohawk products are found in major retailers across the country and the world. From Home Depot to Bloomingdales, from Lowe’s to Macy’s, from Target and Wal-Mart to specialty boutiques in large cities and small towns. Mohawk is making the world a more beautiful place.

On the Mohawk Home website, you can find everything for your flooring needs.  The have guides for all types of flooring, measuring tips, tips for care and maintenance of your flooring, and more. No matter what flooring you’re looking for, Mohawk has you covered!

dining roomI wanted to get a rug for under our dining room table.  While I worry about the kids spilling, they are older now and tend to be much better about keeping spills at a minimum, and I wanted to add a bit more color and coziness to our dining room.  I was so excited to find this Mobile Blocks 5ft x 8ft area rug which would match our colors perfectly!

MobileBlocks_Multi_60x96smBut when it arrived and I opened it up in front of our fireplace to lay it out and have a look, I changed my mind.  I took one look at the rug there and knew it had to stay.  Since the day we moved in we’ve had a hard time decorating the living room where the fireplace is.  It’s not a huge space and is awkwardly surrounded by a bedroom, hallway, arcadia door, and the dining room.  The previous owners of our home weren’t careful with the tile, and there are quite a few chips in it which make it look blah.  For the past 6 years that we’ve lived in this house, that room has not been used as a living room.  The dog’s food and water bowls, bed and kennel are there, our library book box is there, and that’s about it.  During the holidays the room gets the most use, as we put our Christmas tree in there, put the train in there (it only comes out at Christmas-time) and we actually use the fireplace then as well. Lately, however, I’ve really been wanting to redo some things in our house, and I want to make use of that room.  With 4 kids and lots of stuff, as well as being a homeschooling family, it makes no sense that we’d have a room in the house that isn’t used.  I have plans on remodeling and rearranging, and placing this gorgeous rug in that room gets me even more motivated.

Before and afterIn fact, the kids love the rug so much they’ve been spending more time in there too!  The rug has been their dance floor, play mat, lounging area, and more.

comfyIt’s definitely added a cozy touch in there that we needed, and I can’t wait to start making real use of the room!

A few more things before I get to the giveaway (oh yeah, I said giveaway!); I love the backing on the rug. It’s a non-slip backing, so when we walk in the rug or the kids dance on the rug, we don’t have to worry about it slipping out from under them or getting moved all around the room.  I’m looking into the padding that Mohawk Home offers to make it even more cozy to walk/sit/lay on too. πŸ™‚  AND this is made with 100% nylon, which ensures lasting durability (something I need with 4 kids and a dog)!

If you’re looking for flooring for your home, definitely check out Mohawk Home!  You can visit their online store, or one of the many retailers who carries there products.  When I was searching for the rug I wanted, I had more luck going to the individual retailer sites and searching for Mohwak rugs; there was a far better selection there!
