Although I’ve lived in Arizona my entire life, I’ve discovered I have missed out on some great eats, spas, activities & events, and places to stay; How can I be so clueless when this is all here just a short drive from home?! I’m so thrilled to be working with the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau to share some of these awesome local restaurants and activities with you. Whether you’re local to Arizona and need some cluing in like I did, or whether you’re planning a vacation and need some ideas, Scottsdale has plenty to offer!
My husband and I were excited to be looking for new places to eat in Scottsdale. You’d think being with kids all day would have me begging for a quiet restaurant, and while there are plenty of quiet, romantic local restaurants in Scottsdale, we were more in the mood for a lively environment. My husband found Rehab Burger Therapy online, looked at the menu and it was settled.
Recently awarded ‘Editor’s Pick Best Burger’ and ‘Best New Restaurant’ by Phoenix Magazine, ’10 Best Burgers in Metro Phoenix’ by the New Times, ‘Best Burger’ by Arizona Foothills Magazine, and more (all in the past 5 months, mind you), as well as countless raving reviews on Yelp, we were anxious to sink our teeth into one of their tasty burgers.
The ambiance was exactly what we were looking for- fun, busy atmosphere, great background music, friendly staff- without overload.
At the suggestion of our awesome server, Tina, we started out with ‘Nelson’s Verde Con Pollo’: A flavorful blend of Green Chili’s, Cheeses and tender Grilled Chicken served with Fresh Corn Chips for Dippin. It was fantastic- great flavor with a little kick.
Choosing a burger was next to impossible. We ended up deciding on the Know Poblano Burger and the Hawaiian Burger, but I was thrilled to also be able to try the PBJ & Bacon Burger. Yes, you read that right, PBJ & Bacon Burger. It had rave reviews but I was a little hesitant… No need to be. SO good! Who’d have thought peanut butter, grape jelly and bacon on a burger would be good?!
I also opted to have the Sweet PoTOToes with Pineapple aioli instead of fries with my burger, since nearly every review I saw raved about them. I can see why. They were to.die.for. I could have eaten them for dinner.
I chose a 5oz burger over the 10oz, and it was still a huge portion that I was unable to finish. I was stoked to have leftovers for lunch the next day.
After that fantastic, filling meal we were in need of a walk. Since the restaurant is in Old Town Scottsdale we merely walked out the front door and perused the streets of Old Town. I knew that every Thursday night the art galleries in Old Town have the Scottsdale ArtWalk, staying open late to show off the work of the Southwest’s outstanding artists.
Since it was just a few blocks’ walk from Rehab Burger Therapy we strolled over. The process is simple – proceed at your own pace, wander into galleries, stroll around delightful areas punctuated by dramatic statues, and enjoy live music all along the way. Horse-drawn carriage rides and trolley rides are often available for your convenience and enjoyment as well!
The artwork was just gorgeous and I found a few pieces I’d like for my home. Many of the galleries had signs posted requesting no photos be taken, so I can’t share my favorites with you. However, if you have an opportunity to check out the Scottsdale ArtWalk yourself, DO IT!
Since the weather was a gorgeous 63 degrees we really took our time, and even stopped for a while to listen to the musical talents of musician Paul Miles. Wow. He is amazing!
To say the evening was wonderful would be an understatement. We can’t wait to go back to Rehab Burger Therapy for some good eats, and I’m looking forward to getting to view more lovely artwork on our next Scottsdale ArtWalk experience.
