If there’s one thing you’ll see me in year round it’s my sandals. Living in warm AZ I pretty much wear sandals every day, so I’m always stoked to find a new pair I love and have to have. However, I know so many women who spend the year in their sandals, even in cold weather. Let’s face it, sandals are comfortable, quick and easy to put on and go, and they show off our beautifully painted toes! 😉 For those of you who’ve dealt with the crazy weather over the past 6 months, I think it’s safe to say you can finally put away the boots and live in your sandals again. Get out and enjoy the warm weather in your sandals! If you’re looking for a new pair, I’ve got a suggestion for you…
…Juil. I was recently introduced to Juil. I knew right away I loved the look of their shoes, but I was surprised to hear there are health benefits to wearing their shoes as well!
One look at Juil’s footwear and you’ll notice something unique-
In our every day lives we’re exposed to stresses and toxins which lead to a build-up of free radicals in our bodies. The free radicals attack healthy cells and cause inflammation. Who wants to deal with that? The Earth has an endless supply of electrons, and by maintaining a direct connection between your body and the Earth’s surface (called ‘grounding’) you can absorb these electrons to neutralize and release the free radicals in your body. Of course walking barefoot is best, but since we can’t really do that wearing Juil shoes is the next best thing.
When wearing the Juil shoes I’ve found I don’t notice the feel of the copper dots at all; they feel like any other pair of sandals. In fact, the only way I know that I’ve worn these sandals is that occasionally I’ll notice green dots on the bottoms of my toes from the copper (called copper oxidation). This is common for many people when wearing copper as it reacts with the person’s natural acids and metabolism, but no worries- it doesn’t hurt, just looks interesting. 😉 Since it’s on the bottoms of my toes nobody sees it and it doesn’t happen every time I wear the shoes, only occasionally.
Aside from the health benefits of staying grounded, Juil shoes have a few other pretty awesome features- The upper lining and the footbed of Juil footwear is made with premium leather, a great material that moves, breathes, and conforms to your feet and gets more comfortable the more you wear them. Plus, their shoes are vegetable-dyed, which is better for you (and for the earth, of course)!
I wore these Teya sandals almost daily on our recent trip to Maui. Now that we’re home and I have access to all of my shoes, I still find myself slipping on these sandals instead of my others 9 times out of 10. The pewter color I chose matches with pretty much everything, and because of the style of these shoes they can work both with a dress or a tee shirt and a pair of shorts.
Based on the look alone, I’d buy these shoes again in a second. I can’t say I’ve personally noticed that I feel significantly different after wearing these shoes (other than feeling like I look pretty awesome in an amazing new pair of sandals), but I can’t say I’ve felt bad either. I figure if wearing these shoes and staying more grounded is helping me even the slightest bit (and likely will help more over time), that’s a good thing. Either way I know I’m rockin’ a pretty sweet pair of sandals!
