Look Great and Feel Great Too with Juil Shoes- Revew | 2014 Mother’s Day Gift Guide

logoI was sent the following product for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

If there’s one thing you’ll see me in year round it’s my sandals.  Living in warm AZ I pretty much wear sandals every day, so I’m always stoked to find a new pair I love and have to have.  However, I know so many women who spend the year in their sandals, even in cold weather. Let’s face it, sandals are comfortable, quick and easy to put on and go, and they show off our beautifully painted toes! 😉  For those of you who’ve dealt with the crazy weather over the past 6 months, I think it’s safe to say you can finally put away the boots and live in your sandals again.  Get out and enjoy the warm weather in your sandals!  If you’re looking for a new pair, I’ve got a suggestion for you…

Teya sandals in green grassJuil.  I was recently introduced to Juil. I knew right away I loved the look of their shoes, but I was surprised to hear there are health benefits to wearing their shoes as well!

One look at Juil’s footwear and you’ll notice something unique-

copper dotsThe copper dots! Juil uses the copper dots in their shoes to keep you connected to the Earth.

copper dots bottomWhy would you want to do that?  Well…

In our every day lives we’re exposed to stresses and toxins which lead to a build-up of free radicals in our bodies. The free radicals attack healthy cells and cause inflammation. Who wants to deal with that? The Earth has an endless supply of electrons, and by maintaining a direct connection between your body and the Earth’s surface (called ‘grounding’) you can absorb these electrons to neutralize and release the free radicals in your body. Of course walking barefoot is best, but since we can’t really do that wearing Juil shoes is the next best thing.

When wearing the Juil shoes I’ve found I don’t notice the feel of the copper dots at all; they feel like any other pair of sandals.  In fact, the only way I know that I’ve worn these sandals is that occasionally I’ll notice green dots on the bottoms of my toes from the copper (called copper oxidation). This is common for many people when wearing copper as it reacts with the person’s natural acids and metabolism, but no worries- it doesn’t hurt, just looks interesting. 😉  Since it’s on the bottoms of my toes nobody sees it and it doesn’t happen every time I wear the shoes, only occasionally.

Aside from the health benefits of staying grounded, Juil shoes have a few other pretty awesome features-  The upper lining and the footbed of Juil footwear is made with premium leather, a great material that moves, breathes, and conforms to your feet and gets more comfortable the more you wear them. Plus, their shoes are vegetable-dyed, which is better for you (and for the earth, of course)!

Teya Sandals on the beachI wore these Teya sandals almost daily on our recent trip to Maui.  Now that we’re home and I have access to all of my shoes, I still find myself slipping on these sandals instead of my others 9 times out of 10. The pewter color I chose matches with pretty much everything, and because of the style of these shoes they can work both with a dress or a tee shirt and a pair of shorts.

Based on the look alone, I’d buy these shoes again in a second. I can’t say I’ve personally noticed that I feel significantly different after wearing these shoes (other than feeling like I look pretty awesome in an amazing new pair of sandals), but I can’t say I’ve felt bad either. I figure if wearing these shoes and staying more grounded is helping me even the slightest bit (and likely will help more over time), that’s a good thing. Either way I know I’m rockin’ a pretty sweet pair of sandals!

One more quick thing… Have you ever hesitated to make an online purchase because you aren’t sure if the size or style is going to work for you?? Who wants to pay shipping to get it, then end up having to pay shipping again to send it back if it doesn’t work out? At Juil you never have to worry about that- shipping is always free, and all Juil footwear is unconditionally guaranteed within 60 days of its ship date. There will be absolutely, 100% no cost on your end if you want to return any of the products you received.

banner250I LOVE my Juil shoes and look forward to purchasing more in my future (or perhaps receiving them as a gift in the future)!

  1. The copper dots are different and I think it’s a really neat concept! I live in flip flops in the summer time.

  2. Does walking on the copper feel “hard”? I love the shape of the sandals and I need something a little more grownup to wear!

    • Hi Lindsey,

No, you don’t even notice they’re there! Thank you for reminding me that I wanted to add that to the post. 🙂

  3. I love finding a good flip flop/ sandal; esp one that is comfy! These must be great since you walked so much in them.

  4. Interesting concept, but since copper is such a good conductor, I would imagine them transferring a bunch of heat from the cement directly to your toes!

    • I live in hot AZ. Last week we had temps in the 90s and I noticed no heat, no difference. 🙂 The copper portion on the bottom is smaller than on top, perhaps that’s why?

  5. Shoes that will actually help my inner well being? Oh yes please! I love that these aren’t your typical sandals. The little dots on the bottom add something unique and this definitely makes them intriguing!

  6. I love wearing sandals! I try to pretty much wear them as much as possible since they’re so comfortable. Copper looks like a great pair of sandals.

  7. I love a good pair of comfy flops! These look awesome. I’d try them for sure.

  8. I had the same question as some one else listed, does the copper feel hard when you are walking on it? I pretty much live in flip-flops, sandals, and slip on shoes. I’m a Southern girl, so it’s pretty standard for us to be wearing something we can kick off in an instant. You know for those days where you need to feel the grass, or give someone a run for their money!

    • Hi Brandi,

I added a little bit more to the post to address that (I meant to and spaced it, sorry)! No, I don’t notice them at all. They feel just like my other sandals! 🙂

  9. These sound fantastic! I love flip flops in the summer. Would definitely love to try the Juil’s brand.

  15. If the weather is anywhere near warm around here, I am in sandals. An interesting point about Juil sandals and being in touch with the earth. By the way, your toe nails look really good. Don’t you just love sandal season?

  21. This is really intriguing. I think I might like these shoes.

  22. I don’t care for thong straps between my toes. I’ll have to see if they make any in another style in tugboat size. I can never find cute shoes so I hate shoes.

  23. Those are nice! I don’t recall ever seeing any other shoes with the copper dot theory in use.

  24. I live in flip flops from Memorial Day to Labor Day. These look stylish and I love the whole copper connecting to the Earth thing. I’ll have to check these out!

  25. Those are cute shoes! Wish I could wear sandals, but I hate not having socks on. lol.

  30. Those flip flops are just darling!

  31. Those sandals are adorable! I don’t really buy online since I’m quite picky, so I’d rather go to the store to make sure I like them. I don’t like getting all excited then get disappointed after.

  32. Sandra VanHoey says:

Never heard of anything like this but since I am in Florida and wear flip flops al the time, I’d be interested in these

  33. I like that the look like there is some padding for your feet! I live in flats/flip flops/bare foot and my poor arch in my foot has suffered!

  35. What an interesting idea. Love that people can get off the ground with so many ideas and inspirations these days.

  49. Sabrina Radke says:

WOW, these sound amazing! I love in flip flops and these look awesome and super comfy!

  50. Jenn Y says:

These look like awesome sandals! I am always looking for good quality sandals for the summertime (it’s too hot to wear any other kind of footwear!), but I also need some with good support. My daughter has flat feet and we are always on the lookout for cute, stylish shoes that she can wear for an extended period of time and not be in pain. Do these have any arch support? So many do not, which is fine for most people. I also wondered if the copper toes get hot? Love the color you chose!!!

  51. Laura J says:

Oh these are so neat! I have never heard of the copper dots and health benefits! But when you stop and think about it…it sure makes sense! I really love that they are vegetable-dyed! Oh sounds like a wonderful company and shoes!

I love the idea of the copper- so many times I have read that its best absorbed through the feet! This is why we place essential oils there. I want a pair of these! I am showing these to my husband 🙂

  56. Sarah Gillespie says:

Im more of a sneaker girl but these look interesting and comfortable

  57. caitlyn says:

These look and sound so cool! I will try anything to help my feet feel better and well being be better. such a neat concept! I love sandals too. I am going to have to check these out. thanks for the info.

  58. I really like the fact that Juil Shoes are 100% guaranteed and that you don’t have to pay for shipping to return the shoes if they don’t work out.

  59. Nancy Loring says:

I like the idea of keeping myself grounded. I also love to wear sandals. I don’t have a longnperiod of warm weather were I live so my feet are in sandals until the last minute.

  60. Anytime you find yourself slipping on one pair of shoes (9 times out of 10) over your other shoes, you know that are your Must Have Shoes. When they look great, feel good and are comfortable, that’s a win-win all the way around. I’m going to have to get me some of these Juil Shoes.
