Recipe: Very Berry Banana Smoothie

With the rising thermometer we’ve been craving anything cool and refreshing.  With fruits being on sale every week, I’ve been making smoothies nightly with dinner- we are loving it!!  We get the cool refreshment we’ve been craving, PLUS these are healthy so there’s no guilt. That’s right I said healthy- NO added sugar!  And they’re easy too. It takes me no more than 3 minutes from start to finish.  Here’s one of the smoothie recipes I’ve been making that we like best. Enjoy!

Ingredients
  1. 3 cups ice
  2. 1 cup blueberries
  3. 10 strawberries, stems and leaves removed
  4. 1 banana, peeled
  5. 1 cup orange juice
Instructions
  1. Add all ingredients to blender (ice on bottom) and blend until smooth!
Notes
  1. If you prefer your smoothies thicker, add a bit more ice. If you prefer them thinner, add a bit more juice. Easy as that! You can easily change up the flavor by adding different fruits such as raspberries, peaches, mangoes, etc.

  4. I make a smoothie almost daily. Berries and bananas make one of my favorite smoothies ever.

  5. I’m an odd ball…I’m not a fan of bananas. I know, strange, right. But, this sounds like the berry flavor might mask it enough and I would enjoy it!

    • I’m the same way- not a huge fan of bananas. But you get just a hint of banana in this and I love it. However, you can easily skip the banana and it will still taste great! :)

    • Once I made this one I’ve stopped making other kinds because we love this one SO much. I did just buy some pineapple, mangoes and peaches though, so I’m totally going to try a few new things this week! Hopefully I’ll have another amazing smoothie recipe to share! :D

  9. This sounds really yummy. I usually leave the leaves on my strawberries, though.

    • I guess I never considered leaving it on, but it can’t hurt. I’m guessing there is some nutritional value to it too…? I may have to try that next time! Thanks! :)

  10. That sounds yummy! I have a smoothie almost every morning and mine has berries and banana in it too (along with spinach, pineapple and greek yogurt)

    • Going to try some pineapple variations this week for sure. I want to try adding veggies too, and spinach is a great one!

  11. My daughter loves smoothies! I always try to go with a recipe, but she will override the recipe and start adding whatever she thinks is good!

  14. I like this! It has great fruits in it and not only would it be delicious but it has the power berries in it so it is super healthy.

  15. I need to invest in a better blender so I can indulge in this one! It sounds awesome.

    • I have the Ninja Ultimate Blender and it is AWESOME- I’d recommend it in a second. I know it costs a bit more, but it’s so much better than our other, cheaper blender. Can’t even compare it. Hopefully you’ll get a good one soon so you can indulge in some healthy smoothies this summer! :)

  16. This would be a hit here, my kids love smoothies. The thing I love about smoothies? Is that my picky eater will eat/drink any smoother I make, so I get to sneak in some nutrients during the day with smoothies for him!

    • That IS perfect!! :) My youngest thought he wouldn’t like it and refused at first, but now he loves them too.

  18. is that recipe for one? Adding a bit of protein powder or yogurt would make this a meal

    • I’ve never purchased protein powder, and I’ve put Greek Yogurt in it a few times but it changes the flavor a bit- not bad, but not the kids’ favorite either. They prefer their yogurt out of the cup. :)
