We recently had family in town for an entire month. An enjoyable time, no doubt, but certainly not good on my waistline. As soon as company was gone my husband and I knew it was necessary to get back to a healthier diet. Now listen, carbs are my favorite. Like I uber love carbs above all other things. Sadly, they can really wreak havoc on my diet, so I was SO stoked to have a chance to try the new Healthfull breads from Oroweat!
New Oroweat Healthfull Bread will have you falling in love with three different varieties full of better-for-you ingredients – Flax & Sunflower, Steel Cut Oats & Honey, and Nuts & Seeds. It has just 80 calories per slice, and each Oroweat Healthfull variety is made with 100 percent whole grain flour, is a good source of fiber, and contains no high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, or preservatives! Additionally, Oroweat Healthfull Bread is certified by the American Heart Association.
Oroweat has been my bread brand of choice for a few years now (it’s just so delicious) but I had never heard of- let alone gotten to try- the new Healthfull bread before! I LOVE that it has just 80 calories per slice. Since deciding to ‘diet’ I’ve been counting my calories (something I’d never done before) and am thrilled that, thanks to the Healthfull bread, I can have 2 slices of bread when I have a sandwich versus the 1 slice with my other bread. Plus, I’m still getting all of those great grains (hello fiber)!
In this house we love to have BLT’s for dinner, but I’m telling you, the BLT’s we had this week were so much yummier on the Oroweat Healthfull Steel Cut Oats & Honey bread! In fact, the kids loved the Steel Cut Oats & Honey bread so much they had more than one sandwich, and in this one meal the entire loaf of Steel Cut Oats & Honey bread was gone! My daughter even begged me to go to the store and buy more of the Steel Cut Oats & Honey bread, and coming from her (my anti-bread child) this says a LOT.
To be honest, I can’t really call our sandwiches BLT’s. I can’t eat tomatoes, and we all love some red onion on our sandwich. Plus, no BLT sandwich is complete without some avocado! To up the healthiness, my husband and I also added some fresh spinach leaves. I guess you could call my sandwich a BLASO (bacon, lettuce, avocado, spinach, onion). That’s what I love so much about this sandwich- you can add all you favorites to it!
Another meal we love to eat here- mostly for breakfast- is Egg in a Hole. Again, since this bread is so much healthier I can continue to indulge in this delicious meal we all love so much! Since it’s only a slice of Healthfull Bread and an egg, it’s super healthy. Better yet, it’s easy!! Simply cut a hole in the center of your bread (I used a cupcake corer but a small glass works well too), throw some butter in a skillet and melt, coat bread on both sides with the melted butter, then crack your egg in the center, flip halfway through cooking and voila, you’re done! 🙂
Last night we had pulled pork sandwiches for dinner. Thanks to Oroweat Healthfull bread, I was able to indulge with 2 slices of Flax & Sunflower bread and save myself 30 calories and 9 carbs vs the bun I’d normally use.
Oroweat bread is available across the Western U.S. and can be found in the Midwestern U.S. as Brownberry bread and in the Eastern U.S. as Arnold bread. For more information about Oroweat Healthfull Bread, visit www.loveyourbread.com/
