Random Acts of Cuteness- The prayer of a child

So this evening we went to my grandparents for dinner. When I left we had to stop at the store, so by the time we got home it was almost bedtime, and I was rushing the kids.

“Hurry and get in the shower! Hurry and get rinsed off! Hurry and get your pajamas on! Hurry and brush your teeth!”

I managed to get them ready for bed on time, and was in a rush to get them in bed so I could get a few more things done around the house before Gary got home from work.

I sat with Erik and Logan while they said prayers, put them to bed, and then went to Brooke’s room to say prayers with her. She asked if I would say mine with her, and I said, “No, mommy has lots to do. Mommy is going to say prayers when I go to bed. Say your prayer now.”

She began whining, and I told her to stop and say her prayers and go to bed.

So she begins her prayer, and then about the second sentence in says, “And dear God, please help mommy so that she will say prayers with me…”.

How could I not after that?! Not to mention, it made me feel guilty (and rightly so!). There is nothing so important that it should keep me from saying prayers with my children… Nothing!

Thank you Brooke (and God!) for reminding me of this!
