It finally happened…

A friend of mine asked if I would be doing weekly or monthly updates on my pregnancy and the baby. While I don’t want to hold myself to a regular schedule, I do plan on updating when I feel like it.

So what finally happened? The belly popped. I am in week 22 of my pregnancy and, up until about a week or 2 ago, it was difficult to tell I was pregnant unless we told you. We were able to keep the pregnancy a secret much longer than we expected because of this. My sister-in-law joked that my body subconsciously knew we were keeping it quiet and was helping to keep the secret. Funny because within weeks of announcing the pregnancy the belly started to emerge, and more and more everyday our little guy is making his presence known.

Time has flown so fast already, and I don’t anticipate the next 18 weeks to go by any slower. It is very bittersweet for me. I want to savor every moment, knowing this is our last, but at the same time I am anxious to see his little face and have a baby in the house again.

This little man is a busy one. I am constantly feeling movement of some sort. If you watch my belly closely when he’s really busy you can see it moving. Gary was able to feel him move many weeks ago, and the kids are hoping to feel him any day now. Seems like he is playing games with them already because he’ll be busy kicking and moving, but the moment they put their hand on my belly to feel, he stops. Logan is getting frustrated with this… He so desperately wants to feel “our baby” move.

I found a fun tool on theBump.com that shows how big your baby is in comparison to fruits and vegetables. Fun!! So apparently our little guy is currently the size of a papaya. He can hear outside noise now, which means he is hearing his daddy’s silliness and his sister and brothers in their craziness and crankiness and everything in between. He has regular sleep cycles now, sleeping 12-14 hours a day. Hopefully whatever pattern he seems to be on now will continue, because he doesn’t keep me up at night with his activity. There is a short period of time when I first lay in bed that he is busy, but he settles down shortly before I’m ready to go to sleep.

I did plan on posting a picture of my ‘bump’ but haven’t had a picture taken of me recently. We’ll see about getting on that… Maybe. =)

  1. I'm pretty anxious too! It's a little bittersweet for me because I see how far along you already and well, you know. I am not upset, just see how quickly this time is going. I know he'll be just as cute as all the rest and loved immensely.

  2. Such a sweet post – especially you imagining all of the things your baby hears. :0)

  7. It's so neat knowing how big the baby is and what they are doing in there at every stage. I remember reading about each of mine, during the pregnancy, every night before I went to bed. I always read about what stage the baby was at even if it was the same as the night before-LOL! It's so exciting! πŸ™‚

  8. How exciting! I just loved being pregnant and keep thinking how sad I'll be the last time, too.
