Kids…

Growing up I always said I wanted 3 kids.  When Gary and I met, got serious, then discussed marriage and kids, we both thought 3 sounded good.

After having our first 2 children, first a boy, then a girl, Gary commented that we could stop having kids now since we had one of each. I’m pretty sure I laughed and said something about definitely not stopping until we had 3.  He seemed ok with it.

Shortly after, we had our 3rd child, a boy.  “We are DONE!” was a regular phrase used by Gary.  At first, I was totally on board.  And then, the more my baby grew, the more I felt a bit sad at the thought of being done.  For some reason I felt like there was still a piece of our family missing.  But Gary was firm: We.were.done.

Many nights I cried, praying that God would either change Gary’s heart and mind and he’d agree to another baby, or that my heart would be changed, that the sadness would be gone and I’d feel like our family was whole.

As you can see, God answered my prayers. I was elated the day I found out I was pregnant with our 4th child, and the day Connor was born I felt our family was finally complete.

When Gary says we are done now, I am ok with it.  4 kids keeps me plenty busy!

I’ll let you in on a little secret though… there are times when the thought of another baby doesn’t sound that bad (shhh! Don’t tell Gary I said that)!!  Remember, it’s our little secret…

  1. 5 kids…ahhhh ha ha. I was like that with Ewan. I felt until we had him that there was a family member missing. I feel complete now and am thankful for our little souls.

All your children are beautiful and unique.

  2. WOW. 5 kids sounds like a lot. LOL. We thought we were done after Shaun but nope. Shae came but I fixed it so we can't have anymore. 3 is enough for me.

  3. What a great looking family! You are so blessed! Now, if you have one more baby, you will be doubly blessed, right??? Since you always wanted 3 kids….adding one more child gives you 2 sets of your ideal 3 children…or else, it could simply be 'Double Trouble'. LOL

  4. Awwwww, you really do love being a mommy, don't you? I'm so happy for your happiness and for your wonderful family.

  5. There was a time I thought I wanted more, but I've become content with 2. If God decides to bless us with another, though, I wouldn't complain 😉

You truly have a beautiful family!! 🙂

  9. I know the same feeling. My husband and I always planned to have three and just had our third last year. I'm hoping that I don't end up wanting another, but that definitely might happen!
