Basa Body lotion review and giveaway {2011 Holiday Gift Guide}

Recently, I’ve heard a lot of great things about coconut oil, and have been very curious just how good it is.  When I had an opportunity to review Basa Body lotion– which is made with Virgin Organic Coconut Oil- I jumped at the chance! I couldn’t wait to get the product in the mail and see what all the fuss was about.  Little did I know I’d be hooked!

As I mentioned above, Basa Body lotion is made with Virgin Coconut Oil.  Coconut Oil is easliy absorbed into the skin.  It has natural antioxidants that are antibacterial- which I love- and it smells amazing!  Even better, it contains no parabens, no artificial fragrances, no artificial preservatives, and no harsh irritating chemicals.  This is great for me, as I tend to have sensitive skin.

I know many people get horribly dry and chapped skin, especially in the wintertime, and lotions with artificial fragrances can cause terrible burning.  Add harsh chemicals to that and it’s a painful disaster waiting to happen.  Basa Body lotion won’t cause you any pain, and you’ll gain softer feeling, younger looking skin after use (and you’ll smell good too)!

This lotion is great for the entire family; My husband even loves this lotion!  He’s a mechanic, so his hands are constantly being washed to remove the dirt and oil, and they get dry and cracked easily.  He uses this lotion every night before bed to help with heal his dry skin, and comes looking for it if it’s not in it’s usual spot on our bathroom counter. I know if I’m not careful he’ll soon claim it as his own!

I’m in love with my Basa Body lotion, but not just because of the coconut oil or how amazing my skin feels after using it. I also love Basa Body because they are dedicated to humanitarian aid, which is the drive behind the company.

The Basa Body story began years ago with a single trip to Kenya. We connected with wonderful, intelligent women working hard to feed their families. Their small-scale enterprise was called Coast Coconut Farms, where they produced virgin, organic coconut oil by hand.
Intrigued by their commitment, skill, and entrepreneurial spirit, we were determined to help these women tell their story and grow their business. The result is BasaBody, named after the women of Mombasa, Kenya, where Basa’s coconut oil is produced… Our story doesn’t end their either.  BasaBody growing in the United States and we are creating jobs here as well.

Basa Body gives back 10% of their profit to humanitarian work! I can’t see why anyone wouldn’t want to support a company like this.
