Perfect Holiday Baking with The Prepared Pantry’s Gourmet Cinnamon Chips: Review {2011 Holiday Gift Guide}

The sounds and smells of the holidays always bring me cheer.  The sounds of bells and Christmas carols, the smell of pine and cinnamon and -my favorite- the smells in my kitchen as I bake delicious treats for our holiday meals!

Each Thanksgiving and Christmas our huge family gets together, along with friends whose family is gone or lives in another city, and we have a tasty, mouth-watering dinner and fabulous deserts to top it off.   Because we have so many people, each of us ladies makes a few different holiday dishes in large quantities and brings them to share with everyone.  I usually do a 7-layer salad, sometimes a turkey, ham, or green bean casserole, but being the sweets lover that I am I always make a few desserts.  I like to try and find at least one new and different recipe to make for dessert each year to bring.

This Thanksgiving I wasn’t sure what I was going to do.  When The Prepared Pantry contacted me to do a review of their gourmet cinnamon baking chips, I knew I’d find a great new recipe to make!  I have never heard of cinnamon chips before, let alone cooked with them, so I was excited to see what I could find and how they would taste.

I looked through The Prepared Pantry’s cinnamon chip e-book and found tons of recipes that sounded amazing and I wanted to make. I finally narrowed it down to the perfect Thanksgiving dessert recipe- Pumpkin Harvest Cinnamon Chip Cookies- gathered the ingredients and got busy baking.

As soon as they came out of the oven I had to have a taste. It was so delicious!  I loved the mix of pumpkin and cinnamon flavors with the crunch of the pecans. And because the cinnamon chips are mini-chips, there is the wonderful burst of cinnamon in every bite!  They were also so soft and moist, almost cake-like!  I was anxious to see how my family would like them…

In my hurry to get them nicely displayed on a dessert tray and get to eating, I totally forgot to take a picture! I grabbed a few to have after my meal, and decided I’d take a photo (even with a few cookies missing) when I was done enjoying my yummy Thanksgiving feast.  To my horror, (and excitement), when I went back to take a photo, every.single.cookie was gone.  A table with at least 8 pies and cheesecakes, an apple cobbler and my 3 dozen cookies, and all of the cookies were gone! I think that says enough…

Hmmmm? What’s that? Where’s the recipe you ask? Well alright, no need to beg! Check out my separate post with the recipe.
