Campus Book Rentals- Saving College Students Money and Paying It Forward

Campus Book Rentals logoWe were compensated for sharing the following information with you. Regardless, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

There’s nothing I love more than a company who pays it forward. Providing a unique service to consumers is awesome, but doing that AND giving back to those in need is even more awesome. Campus Book Rentals does just that.

If you’re a current college student, soon-to-be college student, or a parent of a current or soon-to-be college student, pay close attention here.  Do.Not.Pay.For.College.Textbooks. Campus Book Rentals is a company that will rent textbooks to you at an amazing deal- from 40-90% off of bookstore prices plus free shipping! Renting periods are flexible and you can even highlight in the textbooks if needed. Not only will you save money by not purchasing the textbook, but you won’t have a stack of unneeded textbooks sitting on your shelf once you’ve completed your classes. Simply ship them back (for free) when you’re done with them.

In addition, they have a program called RentBack. RentBack allows students to rent the textbooks they own to other students. Renting to other students can make you two to four times more money compared to what you would make through buyback options at your school’s bookstore or other buyback companies! You simply ship your books to RentBack and they’ll do all the work for you; you can just sit back and wait for the money to roll in every semester!  What college student couldn’t use some extra cash?!

Best of all, Campus Book Rentals will donate to Operation Smile with each textbook rented-whether you rent the textbooks from Campus Book Rentals or another student rents your textbooks.

Just look at those faces; precious! And to think, without Operation Smile their lives may  be completely different.  The following is a bit of a blog posting on the Operation Smile website about this man:

Operation Smile- Man Before and After

I walked out the gates of the hospital searching for this man and found him leaning up against the large wall that surrounded the hospital grounds. He used a corner of his white cloak to cover up his lip, something I imagine he has done his whole life. He looked defeated. The defeat I imagine not just from that day, but from a lifetime of living with a bilateral clef lip, shunned by his family and community. His eyes lit up when he saw me and he motioned towards his adult son who was waiting with him.

Together the three of us walked back towards the hospital in silence as the language barrier didn’t allow us to communicate. We walked down the dark hallways of the hospital and into the screening room where I motioned to the man and his son to wait while we filled out a medical chart for him. I went to talk to one of our plastic surgeons about the case that had just showed up and he compassionately said: “Put him on the schedule, we’re operating on him.”

The surgery went wonderfully well. My only regret is that he could not have had this surgery earlier in his life. He could not stop staring at his face in the mirror, in awe of the reflection that stared back at him.

I am on the verge of tears with every one of these stories that I have read. Operation Smile is amazing and life changing, and knowing Campus Book Rentals is assisting this cause is fabulous as well.  In this day and age of money hungriness, greediness, and eagerness for profit, it’s awesome to see a company taking a portion of their profits and giving to such a worthy, needed cause.

Though my own children are still at least 6 years from college, I can’t wait to someday be able to utilize Campus Book Rentals and assist them in contributing to Operation Smile.  It’s a win-win for everyone!!

This sounds like a great program all around. My son is just starting back to college and a daughter who will be starting soon. I will have to look into this.
